Ability to turn off the chat?

You must be logged in to participate.

I would like to have the option to leave the chat
Why would you want that, there is hardly anything else to do here?

I wonder, is there a way to leave / tun off the chat, when I am not in the mood for cyber jerks?

Seems it is always “on”.

  I totally agree with @justin. I prefer to be shown in chat, when I really want to chat. Just to ignore an incomming chat because I am not in the mod is a kind of unpolitness for me, what I don’t like, at least in the chat…

  as I understand it, this option muts the constant “boing boing” sounds from chat … but doesn’t turn it off?
  
  The chat sounds were the first things I turned off …
  
  I would like the option to turn the chat off when I am not in the mood (or don’t want to be rude when watching Youtubes etc, as Sparkie pointed out), or set myself to “away” or “offline” at least — if that is possible, please.

  at the bottom of the chat, you have a Customize button.
  
  When you click on it, you have some options. One of them is to mute the chat.

  Yes that would be handy. Often times I’m working on artwork and have my web browser open to gain access to certain things I need to work .. and though I do appreciate chatting with you guys .. I’m not always able to stay on the chat because of work, and I don’t wanna be rude. So it would be handy to be able to at least mark oneself as ‘away’ .. or ‘not available to chat just yet’.
